Midlothian Card show and more surprises!!

(Nov. 29th) Well I haven’t been able to go to any local shows recently, so I’ve just been spending money on my truck and many other things. I recently decided to get into some baseball cards and wanted to rip some packs and boxes and decided to pick up a 2024 Topps Update Hanger box and I couldn’t believe my eyes when I opened it. (Fun fact: I was sitting in the Texas Roadhouse parking lot waiting for a table)

First it was the Paul Skenes Rookie card so I knew I was in for a treat! Then I got to the back of the pack and see the “Topps Black and Gold” and then I see the famous “Paul Skenes”, I turned the card around and see the /299. I freaked out and was going crazy! This card is 1:448 boxes! Wow! Got my moneys worth and basically paid for my dinner! Thank you Walmart…

(Nov. 30th) The day after that I went down to Richmond to see my uncle for the weekend and got some surprises from him, got a brand new display case for my local card shows, some bears cards, and some other stuff for my collection. I think he has better luck finding bears cards than I do. (Dec. 1st) So the day after I went down to see him there was a card show in Midlothian and I had nothing better to do so I decided to tag along for the ride. My uncle’s friend Blake was setting up at the show and wanted us to help him with his booth. We got there pretty early so we got to do some pre-digging in the boxes before it got packed in there, I found a good dime box and decided to dig in it.

Didn’t think I would find anything like this, first row was full of these 2024 Topps Holiday cards and found a couple good rookies. I knew some of the big name players and found the Wyatt Langford Silver parallel and got that for a steal and a couple other rookies as show in the picture.

Then me and Ryan found “the shiny box” as it was named and it sure did show us shinny! Ryan was digging and I was digged and I couldn’t find a single bears card but kept on finding orioles cards for him and he kept finding Bears cards!!! He found every card I need for the bears collection. I know if I was the one digging in the boxes I wouldn’t have found them with my luck.

First was the 2024 Topps Composite Football (my favorite set) Charles Tillman disco. Then a couple cards after that he found a Equanimeoud St. Brown /100!!! Wow!!!! He has more luck than I have in finding bears cards.

Towards the end of the show Blake was generous enough to give me two Justin fields cards which were both PSA graded cards. I was having conversations with him the entire day about Justin Fields and how much I admire him. So these cards are definitely going to a good home with me!!!

I made my day when he handed me those cards! I’ve been looking for the Pink Camo card and now I have it in my hands! He had so many Justin fields Autographs I wanted but I can’t afford them at the moment. But I will definitely buy them when I can! I want to thank him again for giving me them cards! After we packed up it was time for me and Ryan to head back to his house and get me back up the road.

Overall an amazing trip and I enjoyed every second of it with my uncle. I can’t wait until the next card show me and him go to! The night I got home I sat in the sports room and put every single card away and put them on my checklist! Took me a while but I’m glad I found what I needed! I also wanna thank my uncle for letting me stay at his house and spend the weekend away from the house. It really got my mind off of things.

But I think it’s time for me to go find more bears cards for the next blog! Until next time! BEAR DOWN!!!!!!!

Chantilly Card Show - June 22nd

Well today’s trip took me up to Chantilly, VA!! While is was a long 2 hour drive I still enjoyed every last second of it and would love to go again. I got to see Trevor Lawrence up in person, tried to talk to him but failed miserably…. Found some good cards for the Bears PC! I was digging in a few boxes and found a Jay Cutler /25, I knew I should have picked it up just now thinking about it. I’ll never see that card again. Good old Smoking Jay… Anyways, while diving I ended up helping my uncle find new cards and cards for his checklists. The best part of the show was getting up to Trevor Lawrence and seeing him up in person. Here’s a picture of how close I was.

I didn’t spend all the money I went up there with but some how I walked out with more than I brought… I’m proud of myself for that but I wish I did grab some of the stuff I did see, it would go great for my inventory for my card show up in Roanoke. While I was up at the show I did open a retail box of 2024 Series 2 and opened it with my uncle hoping to pull that damn Jackson Holiday card. Long story short we didn’t pull it, but I did pulled a Vintage Stock /99 card, an Adley Rutschman /299 for my uncles Collection. Pulled a couple of other numbered cards that are worth a little bit. But after our little rip and lunch we decided to go back and search for more cards. We did find a “Hidden box” which was full of crazy cards, I found me a Snake Skin SSP tee Higgins cards, /25 Packers card and much more. I know I couldn’t pass on that. All the cards in the box were .25 cents so of course me and Ryan took that to an advantage and dove right into the box. I think it was a pretty successful day at Chantilly. I can’t wait until next time and to buy more stuff!

Tanglewood card show pickups

Well today I was lucky enough to hit a gold mine at my local card show in the Tanglewood Mall in Roanoke, VA. My first stop was all my buddy’s that I usually buy from but unfortunately it’s all the same stuff I’ve already looked at. I was mainly looking for bears and Justin Fields cards but there was absolutely nothing I wanted except a few things. I was lucky enough to find a Justin Fields Ohio State Autograph. Which was such an amazing hit for my PC!

I couldn’t believe the price he wanted for it, he gave me such a good deal since I’ve bought from him a couple of times so of course I had to take it. Anyways, I was thinking that I was going to be able to complete some bears sets and find some Justin Fields that I haven’t seen yet or got for my collection but that didn’t go as planned. Since there was nothing else that I wanted I decided to look for Orioles cards for my uncle. Well I hit the gold mine, I completed the whole 2024 Topps Series 1 set for him and some other cards that he needed for his collection. After that I didn’t see anything until I came across a box that had “FREE” written on it. The box had TONS of orioles memorabilia, signed baseballs, pictures, and cards. I couldn’t believe what I had hit. So I grabbed everything that had a orioles logo on it. I walked out with a whole handful of stuff.

I can’t believe that the guy had just put all that stuff in the box and give it away for free. I know I stood there for a whole 10 minutes looking through the box. Well worth it!!! I think I’ll be saving up until the next Chantilly card show. Until next time BEAR DOWN! 🐻⬇️
